How to become a CA? – A complete roadmap

Register for Foundation

First, you have to register for Common Proficiency Test with The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and clear the exam.

Register for Intermediate

The Intermediate is the second stage after CPT. The Passing Foundation  exam is mandatory to appear for Intermediate examination. The registration for Intermediate must be done before 9 months of its examination. There are 8 papers in Group 1+Group 2 of the Intermediate. Each Group contains four papers. A CA student can apply or Articleship at any time after passing either or both the groups.

Register for Articleship

Articleship is the most important part of the overall course of CA. You need to register as Articled Assistant for 3 years with a practicing CA. The training should be completed within the given time frame.

Register for CA Final level

This is the final CA exam and you need to register for CA final course after completion of both the IPCC groups.

Pass the CA final exam

During the last 6 months of your Articleship training you have to pass the CA final exam. 

Become member of ICAI

At last, you need to register as a member of ICAI and get designated as a CA.
